Wow... Street Jazz/Funk; that is a mouthful --- and what the heck is it? Well, Q's Advanced Beginner Street Jazz Funk class definitely draws from Hip Hop and its various sub-genres (Popping, House, etc.) and uses basic Jazz technique to flesh out the rest of the choreography. As with all of his classes, Q starts with a stretch and tone warm-up designed to prepare for you a combination that often fuses character development and story with movement that aims to take on the personality of the chosen music. Routines are often worked on for at least two consecutive classes, allowing students to not only clean, perfect and fine tune the choreography, but it also allows for longer combinations resulting in better memory retention. At least 1-2 years of both Hip Hop and Jazz is recommended for this class.
